Group homes offer around the clock supports and housing in a home-like setting. CDC group homes, situated in pleasant neighborhoods, have either 6 or 7 adult residents living in a traditional community residence. The size is intentionally less than most group homes in the state because it allows more personal attention for every resident. Staff are rigorously trained to meet the varied needs of residents while maintaining a relaxed and warm environment for all. All homes are accessible to individuals using wheelchairs and attractively furnished. A home manager oversees each home with the active involvement of social service and nursing staff. Additional support, as required, comes from dietitian, pharmacy and behavior management team members.

Residents of the home are encouraged to participate in daily household tasks to the extent possible and given individual support for their specific needs. Community activities are a regular part of life in a group home utilizing accessible vehicles to transport residents to leisure time activities, volunteer/job sites or day service programs. Every effort is made to assist each resident to continue their personal growth, to learn new skills and generally improve their quality of life.

Several CDC group homes are able to be co-ed because of the home design while one home is limited to women. Our group homes provide 24 hour staffing, meals, medical assistance, transportation and daily program engagement to realize personal preferences and goal achievement. The home locations offer easy access to shopping, religious services, outdoor activities and community events. We work to ensure that the home does not have the look or feel of an institution yet provide the security that families and caregivers expect from a home.
