Heartland Employment Services serves individuals of all abilities in finding job
opportunities.
Heartland's purpose is assist adults with disabilities to prepare for, obtain and
maintain community employment. Our professional staff supports individuals to help
them realize their work goals in areas of their choice. Working side by side with
these individuals helps create a sense of pride and reinforces the work ethic necessary
for successful work situations. There are three key components to our program:
- Job Development: Job developers not only search for the proper job fit but
also help those in our program learn about themselves and create a foundation to
build upon with each opportunity. Resume development, interviewing skills, and job
matching are all key components taught during the development phase. Each individual
has at least one visit per week with a Job Developer to ensure solid communication
and focus.
- Job Coaching: Just as important
as finding a job, Job Coaching is essential to help many individuals become stabilized
in their employment. Job Coaches will observe and assist our clients on the job while
communicating with the employer so everyone knows the expectations and adjustments
are made quickly to enhance the long-term prospects for workforce retention.
Service components may include the following, depending up individual needs:
- Job Skills Assessment
- Job Matching
- Resume Development
- Interview Coaching
- Education on what employers want
- Job Searching
- Job Coaching
- Benefits Counseling
V.O.I.C.E. – CDC has initiated a grant funded program to provide assistance to
teachers, students in special education and their families as they prepare for entry
into adult life. This assistance targets students exploring their work, school and
community living options after they finish secondary education. This transition is
challenging and it is always good to plan ahead due to funding and program limitations
that might affect their decisions.
Heartland Employment Services is designed to be proactive, educational, and
informative. Our offices are located in Rensselaer and Monticello with staff located
in the field. To get assistance from Heartland Employment Services, contact us to
submit a direct referral to our funding source, Vocational Rehabilitation. Our services
are state funded and incur little to no cost to participants.
